Part I - Sign up and bonus
qualification.
Desert Dollar has some good bonuses on offer
so, as I haven't played there before, I thought I'd drop in and ambush some
free cash.
I went for the deposit $20 get another $50
free. I don't know about you, but I can't turn down a 250% bonus.
I entered my email address, selected my bonus
and downloaded the casino, which took about 4 minutes with my broadband
connection. Sign up was pretty straightforward and I registered my credit card
and deposited $20. The casino's rules state that you must play your deposit at
least once to receive the $50 bonus.
I printed the strategy card for Desert Dollar
and selected to play single hand Blackjack. The graphics were good, as you
expect from microgaming software, and the general ambience was that of a busy
land based casino. Although the ambient music was a bit repetitive.
I decided to wager $2 a bet, 10% of my bank,
and play my $20 at least once to collect my bonus.
I started well: 10/10 against an 10/8, stood
on 10/6 against a 5 that the dealer bust, then dealer BJ followed by my first
BJ (pays 3 to 2). It was another 6 hands until I lost again, $12 up and I had
wagered my deposit already! The cards were running for me so I wasn't going to
stop yet though.
Two hands later I got a pair of 8s, whoahh!
hold on there, first mistake. I don't know where my mind was but all I saw was
16, I hit them against the dealer's 10 and bust when I also recieved a 10. Of
course if you follow basic strategy you know that you always split a pair of
8s. You've then got 2 chances to get a respectable 18 instead of the poor
16.
The next hand wasn't much better, even though
I stuck to the strategy. I had 8/3 the dealer had a 2. This is a definite
Double Down and I did, only to received an Ace, just when I didn't want one. Of
course when you double you only get one more card so I was stuck on 12. The
dealer somehow managed to get 17 and I lost.
I played another 7 hands and decided to call
it a day after a run of 4 wins and my balance now a healthy $31. I had bet a
total of $56, so it shows you how easy it is to play through these wagering
requirements.
All I had to do now was wait 24hrs and sure
enough my $50 bonus was added to my account.
Part II - Win and wager enough
to cash out the bonus.
Having taken advantage of Desert Dollar's buy
$20 get $50 promotion, I had completed the first stage of my mission and
recieved the $50 bonus by wagering my deposit once.
Now I could re-start with $81 having won $11
in my first game. I've got to wager bonus and deposit 8 times to cash in, so
that's $640 in total.
I was going to bet with a rough 10% of bank
stake so that meant I started at $8 a hand.
After losing the first 4 hands things evened
out and after 40 hands I had $102 and had wagered $320. I hit a good run and
won 9 out of 11 hands including 2 naturals and a winning double. However this
was followed by a similar losing run which brought me back to only $58 and $520
wagered.
Thankfully luck evened out again and as I
passed my $640 wagered mark I had $112. I lost the next 3 hands and called it a
day coming away with a total of $88. A $7 profit on the day but $68 or a 340%
on my original $20.
